Pony Ma, one of the Core Founders, Executive Director, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Tencent. Pony oversees the strategic development, overall direction and business management of the Group. Before he founded Tencent in 1998,Pony was in charge of research and development for Internet paging system development at China Motion Telecom Development Limited, a telecommunications services and products provider in China. Pony received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Shenzhen University in 1993 and he has more than 18 years of experience in telecommunication and Internet industries.

Martin Lau, President of Tencent. Martin joined Tencent in 2005 as the Chief Strategy and Investment Officer and was responsible for corporate strategies, investment, M&A and investor relations. In 2006, Martin was promoted as President of the Company to assist Pony Ma, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, in managing the day-to-day operation of the Company. In 2007, Martin was appointed as the Executive Director of the Company. Prior to Tencent, Martin was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs (Asia) L.L.C's investment banking division and the Chief Operating Officer of its Telecom, Media and Technology Group. Prior to that, Martin worked at Mckinsey & Company, Inc. as a management consultant. Martin received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA Degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

John Lo, Chief Financial Officer of the Company and SVP. John joined Tencent in 2004 and served as the Company’s Financial Controller from 2004 to 2008. John was appointed as the Company’s Vice President and Deputy CFO in 2008. He has been appointed as CFO since May, 2012. Prior to Tencent, John worked in PricewaterhouseCoopers as Senior Manager (audit services) in its Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen offices and he had been in the public accounting practice for more than 12 years. He is a Fellow of the CPA Australia, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. John received his Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Curtin University of Technology and an EMBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University and HKUST.
