The Jean Coutu Group (PJC), Inc. is a pharmacy retailer, which operates a network of franchised stores located in the provinces of Québec, New Brunswick and Ontario under the banners of PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique, PJC Santé and PJC Santé Beauté. It operates through three segments: Franchisin, Generic Drugs and investment in the Right Aid. The Franchisig segment exercises its franchising activities in the Canadian drugstore retail industry, mainly in Eastern Canada. The Generic drugs generic drugs are assessed by Health Canada with regard to safety, efficiency and quality, and must be approved before being marketed. The Investment in the Right Aid segment operates a national chain of drug stores in the District of Columbia, United States. The company was founded by Jean Coutu in 1969 and is headquartered in Longueuil, Canada.
