Afren is one of the largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies operating in Africa and the Middle East. The Company has interests in 25 exploration and production licences in 11 countries and focuses on three regions: West Africa, East Africa and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. In 2013 Afren produced 48,000 barrels of oil per day, from its assets in Nigeria and the Kurdistan region of Iraq. As of 31st December 2012, Afren reported total reserves and resources of 8.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent and 2P reserves of 269 million barrels of oil equivalent. Afren`s 2013 exploration drilling success rate was 91%, which included one of the largest global oil discoveries in 2013: the Ogo field in Nigeria.
Afren has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the Financial Times Stock Exchange Index of the leading 250 UK listed companies.
