Nicholas Smith, Chairman
Appointed a Director on 1 March 2013 and Chairman on 26 June 2013, Nic joined the Jardine Fleming Group in 1986 in Hong Kong and served from 1993 to 1997 as Chief Financial Officer and as a member of the Executive Committee. After returning to the UK, he became a director of Robert Fleming International Ltd in 1998, and the Director of Origination - Investment Banking, serving until 2000. He is currently Chairman of Ophir Energy plc and non-executive director of Schroder AsiaPacific Fund Plc.
Clare Dobie, Senior Independent Non-Executive Director
Appointed a Director on 13 December 2013. Clare Dobie joined Barclays Global Investors in 1993 with a variety of responsibilities including Head of Marketing and Head of Clients. She then moved to GAM in 2001 as Group Head of Marketing. Leaving GAM in 2005, Clare is now a Director at Braxted Marketing Measures, a marketing and client services consultancy working with, amongst others, investment consultants and asset management organisations. She was, until recently, Deputy Chairman for Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Hugh Young is a Director of Aberdeen Asset Management PLC and Managing Director of the Group's Asian business. He has overall responsibility for the Group’s active equity, fixed income and property capabilities. Hugh joined Aberdeen in 1985 to manage Asian equities from London, having previously held posts at Fidelity International and MGM Assurance. He founded Singapore-based Aberdeen Asia in 1992 and since then he has built the company into one of the largest and most well-respected managers of such assets globally.
