Mark Fane, Chairman
Mark Fane was appointed to the Board in 2000 and was appointed as chairman of the Board in 2009. He is chairman and chief executive of, an internet-based gardening retailer established in 1999. He is a non-executive director of the commercial arm of the Royal Horticultural Society and was also a non-executive director of Ottakar’s, a company in the portfolio of Graphite Enterprise, from 1992 until its takeover by HMV in July 2006.
Peter Dicks, Senior Independent Non-Executive Director
Peter Dicks was appointed to the Board in 1998. He was co-founder of Abingworth plc, a venture capital investment company, where he worked from 1973 to 1991.Since then he has been non-executive director or chairman of a number of companies. He is currently chairman of Private Equity Investor plc and Sportingbet plc, and a director of Polar Capital Technology Trust plc, Mears Group plc and Standard Microsystems Corporation, a U.S. based NASDAQ listed company.Mr Dicks is the chairman of the Audit Committee and is the senior independent non-executive director
Michael Cumming, Board Member
Michael Cumming was appointed to the Board in 1999. He has been involved in private equity for 40 years having helped found Midland Montagu Industrial Finance in 1969 and Barclays Private Equity in 1979. He was managing director of the latter from 1981 to 1995.He is currently chairman of Private & Commercial Financial plc, and chairman of the Advisory Committees for Mercia Fund 1 and 2 and a director of other quoted and unquoted companies.
Jeremy Tigue, Board Member
Jeremy Tigue was appointed to the Board in 2008. He joined F&C Management in 1981 and has been the fund manager of Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust since 1997.He is a director of the Association of Investment Companies and an investment adviser to the BP and British Steel pension funds.
Andy Pomfret, Board Member
Andy Pomfret was appointed to the Board in March 2011. He spent over 13 years with Kleinwort Benson (now Dresdner Kleinwort) as a corporate financier, venture capitalist and finance director of the investment management and private banking division before joining Rathbone Brothers plc in 1999 as finance director.
Lucinda Riches, Board Member
Lucinda was appointed to the Board in July 2011. She was formerly an investment banker and has extensive experience in capital markets. She began her career at Chase Manhattan Bank. Lucinda worked at UBS and its predecessor firms for 21 years until 2007. At UBS, she was a managing director, global head of Equity Capital Markets and a member of the Board of the Investment Bank.Lucinda is currently a non-executive director of UK Financial Investments (UKFI), a non-executive member of the Partnership Board of SJ Berwin LLP, a non-executive director of The Diverse Income Trust plc and an adviser to the board of the British Standards Institution. She is a trustee of Sue Ryder, a British charity which provides health and social care services in local communities.
Rod Richards, Managing Partner, Chairman of the Management Board
Rod joined Graphite Capital in 1986. In 2001 he led the management buy-out of Graphite Capital from the Foreign & Colonial Group. He previously worked for McKinsey & Co and for Bell & Howell Limited. He has a first class degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD.
Emma Osborne, Senior Partner
Emma joined Graphite Capital in 2004 and is head of the fund investment team. Previously she worked for Merrill Lynch's private equity fund-of-funds team. She has direct equity and mezzanine investing experience from Morgan Grenfell Private Equity and Royal Bank of Scotland respectively. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand and holds a first class degree in Economics and Politics from Bristol University.
Tim Spence, Finance Director
Tim joined Graphite Capital in 2005 and is responsible for the finance team and regulatory compliance. He also plays a significant role in the management of Graphite Enterprise Trust. Previously he spent eight years in Audit & Assurance at Deloitte. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and holds a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University. He has been a member of the BVCA Regulatory Committee since 2009.
Stephen Cavell, Senior Parner, Head of Investor Relations
Stephen is responsible for fundraising and investor relations, having previously led transactions on the investment team. Prior to joining Graphite Capital in 1993, he worked at Baring Brothers and Barclays Bank. He has a degree in English and French Law from the University of Kent and an MBA with distinction from Warwick Business School.
Fiona Bell, Investment Manager
Fiona joined Graphite Capital in 2009 as an investment manager in the fund investment team.Fiona started her career at KPMG in the media and private equity groups before joining JPMorgan Cazenove, where she worked as a corporate broker and mergers & acquisitions advisor in the industrials sector. Fiona qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and holds a degree in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University.
Colm Walsh, Investment Manager
Colm joined Graphite Capital in 2010, initially as a Senior Financial Controller before assuming his current role. Previously he had spent three years with Terra Firma Capital Partners as a finance executive and prior to that worked for the financial services audit group at Deloitte.Colm is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA Charterholder. He has a degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Andrea Fernandez, Investment Manager
Andrea joined Graphite Capital in 2011 as an investment manager in the fund investment team. Most recently she worked for Auda Alternative Investments in the private equity fund-of-funds and secondaries team. She spent four years at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital in the equity capital markets team in New York. She holds an MBA from INSEAD and an undergraduate degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Babson College.
