The company operates through seven segments: Private Customers, Mittelstandsbank, Corporates and Markets, Central and Eastern Europe, Asset Based Finance, Portfolio Restructuring Unit and Others and Consolidation. The Private Customers segment provides private, business and wealth management customers, credit and direct banking services and also officers money investments of every kind, pension products and real estate financing. The Mittelstandsbank segment is divided into Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions divisions. The Corporate Banking division serves small and mid-sized clients, major clients, the public sector and institutional clients. The Financial Institutions division is responsible for relationships with banks and financial institutions in Germany and abroad. The Corporates and Markets segment provides investment banking activities and managing customers who require capital market products. The Central and Eastern Europe segment contains the operations through subsidiaries, branches and investments in the Central and Eastern Europe region. The Asset Based Finance segment comprises the commercial real estate, public finance, ship finance, as well as asset management and leasing services. The Portfolio Restructuring Unit segment engages in proprietary trading and investment activities. The Others and Consolidation segment contains the income and expenses which are not attributable to the business segments. The company was founded on February 26, 1870 and is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany.
