The primary investment objective of the Nuveen Preferred Income Opportunities Fund is high current income. The secondary investment objective is total return. The fund invests at least 80% of its managed assets in preferred securities, and up to 20% opportunistically in other securities, primarily income-oriented securities such as corporate and taxable municipal debt and common equity. At least 60% of its managed assets are rated investment grade (BBB/Baa or better by S&P, Moody's, or Fitch) at the time of investment. The fund uses leverage.
