Oil-Dri Corp. of America develops, manufactures and markets sorbent products principally produced from clay minerals, primarily consisting of montmorillonite and attapulgite and, to a lesser extent, other clay-like sorbent materials, such as antelope shale. The company's principal products include cat litter, industrial and automotive floor absorbents, fluids purification and filtration bleaching clays, agricultural and horticultural chemical carriers, animal health and nutrition products and sports field products. It operates through two business segments: Retail and Wholesale Products Group and Business to Business Products Group. The Retail and Wholesale Products Group segment customers include mass merchandisers, wholesale clubs, drugstore chains, pet specialty retail outlets, dollar stores, retail grocery stores, distributors of industrial cleanup and automotive products, environmental service companies and sports field product users. The Business to Business Products Group segment customers include processors and refiners of edible oils, petroleum-based oils and biodiesel fuel, manufacturers of animal feed and agricultural chemicals and marketers of consumer products. The company was founded by Nick Jaffee in 1941 and is headquartered in Chicago, IL.
