The Semiconductor components are used for a wide variety of functions, including power control, power conversion, power management, signal switching, signal routing, signal blocking, signal amplification, two-way data transfer, one-way remote control, and circuit isolation. Semiconductor components are categorized in to three segments: MOSFETs, Diodes and Optoelectronic Components. The MOSFETs segment products functions as solid-state switches to control power in multiple applications, including mobile phones, notebook and desktop computers, tablet computers, digital cameras, televisions, DC/DC and AC/DC switch mode power supplies, solar inverters, automotive and industrial systems. This segment's products include low- and medium-voltage TrenchFET MOSFETs, high-voltage planar MOSFETs, high voltage Super Junction MOSFETs, power integrated circuits(power ICs), and integrated function power devices. The Diodes segment products include rectifiers, small signal diodes, protection diodes, thyristors/SCRs and power modules. The Optoelectronic segment's components include infrared (IR) emitters and detectors, IR remote control receivers, optocouplers, solid-state relays, optical sensors, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), 7-segment displays, and IR data transceiver modules (IrDA). The Passive components division includes resistors, capacitors, and magnetic, such as inductors and transformers. The Passive components are categorized into two segments: Resistors and Inductors. The Resistors and Inductors segment manufactures components, which are used in electronic circuitry to adjust and regulate levels of voltage and current. This segment's inductor applications include controlling AC current and voltage, filtering out unwanted electrical signals, and energy storage. The Capacitors segment manufactures products based on capacitor technologies, including tantalum, ceramic, film, power, heavy-current, and aluminum electrolytic. Vishay Intertechnology was founded by Felix Zandman in 1962 and is headquartered in Malvern, PA.
