PICO Holdings, Inc. is a diversified holding company, which seeks to build and operate businesses where significant value can be created from the development of unique assets, and to acquire businesses which it identifies as undervalued and where its management participation in operations can aid in the recognition of the businesses fair value, as well as create additional value. The company operates its business through four segments: Water Resource & Water Storage Operations, Real Estate Operations, Agribusiness Operations and Corporate. The Water Resource & Water Storage Operations are conducted through Vidler Water Co., Inc. and its subsidiaries engaged in the in the water resource development business in the southwestern United States. The Real Estate Operations segment is engaged in real estate development operations through its subsidiary UCP, LLC, which operates primarily in California. The Agribusiness Operations segment is comprised interests in the operations of PICO Northstar Hallock, LLC, which owns and operates a canola seed processing plant near Hallock, Minnesota. The Corporate segment consists of cash ixed-income securities, equity securities both domestic and foreign. PICO Holdings was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in La Jolla, CA.
