Unit Corp. is a diversified energy company. It engages in onshore contract drilling of oil and gas wells, exploration and production of oil and gas, and the gathering and transportation of natural gas. The company operates through three business segments: Contract Drilling, Oil and Natural Gas, and Mid-Stream. The Contract Drilling segment operated through the subsidiary Unit Drilling Co., which is engaged in the contract drilling of onshore oil and natural gas wells. The Oil and Natural Gas segment operated through the subsidiary, Unit Petroleum Co., which explores, develops, and acquires oil and natural gas properties. The Mid-Stream segment operates through the subsidiary, Superior Pipeline Co. LLC, which buys, sells, gathers, and processes and treats natural gas for third parties. Its operations are principally located in the Mid-Continent region, including the Anadarko, Arkoma, Permian, Rocky Mountains and Gulf Coast Basins. The company was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Tulsa, OK.
