Hanger, Inc. provides orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) patient care products and services. It operates its business through three reportable segments: Patient-Care Services, Distribution and Therapeutic Solutions. The Patient-Care Services segment owns orthotic and prosthetic businesses. The orthotic business designs, fabricates, fits and maintains a wide range of standard and custom-made braces and other devices that provide external support to patients suffering from musculoskeletal disorders, such as ailments of the back, extremities or joints and injuries from sports or other activities. The prosthetic business designs, fabricates, fits and maintains custom-made artificial limbs for patients, who are without limbs due to traumatic injuries, vascular diseases, diabetes, cancer or congenital disorders. The Distribution segment distributes O&P components to individual customers and to its own patient-care centers. It also manufactures and distributes therapeutic footwear for diabetic patients in the podiatric market and also directs specialized catalogues to segments of the healthcare industry, such as orthopedic surgeons, physical and occupational therapists, and podiatrists. The Therapeutic Solutions segment provides its services to the O&P market and post-acute rehabilitation market through its subsidiaries Innovative Neurotronics, Inc. and Accelerated Care Plus Corp. It was formerly known as Hanger Orthopedic Group, Inc. and changed its name to Hanger, Inc. in June 2012. The company was founded by James Edward Hanger in 1861 and is headquartered in Austin, TX.
