Karin Forseke, Non-Executive Director
Karin Forseke joined the Board in March 2012 and became Chairman in April 2012. She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Wallenius Lines AB. She is also a Board member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) and a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Previously, Karin was Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Director of the Financial Services Authority until July 2012, a Non-Executive Director of the Royal Opera in Stockholm until April 2012 and Non-Executive Director of Eniro AB until April 2011; she was Chief Executive Officer of D Carnegie & Co AB from 2003 to 2006 and Chief Operating Officer of the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) from 1996 to 1998. She has also held positions as Head of Distribution for Westpac Banking Corporation's Financial Markets Group in London and Director of Business Development for the OMLX Exchange in London.
John Hylands, Non-Executive Director

John Hylands graduated with a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Glasgow. He joined Standard Life in 1979 and qualified as an actuary in 1982. His career at Standard Life spanned 28 years and included various actuarial, finance and management positions including serving as Finance Director from 2001 to 2005. He is a member of the Aviva UK Life With Profits Committee and is a Non-Executive Director of the Board of Ecclesiastical Insurance Group PLC. He also chairs the trustees of the Standard Life and BOC pension schemes.
Susan Noble, Non-Executive Director
Susan Noble graduated from the University of Manchester with a BA in History and later completed an MBA at the Manchester Business School. Susan joined Robert Fleming Asset Management in 1986 as a European equities portfolio manager. She rose to become Director and was Senior European Portfolio Manager of The Fleming Continental European Investment Trust PLC (now known as the JP Morgan European Investment Trust PLC.) She joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management in 1997 and held the roles of Head of European Equities, Head of Global Equities and was appointed Managing Director in 1999. Between 2005 and 2007 she was a founder partner of The Pension Corporation and was a member of its Investment Strategy Committee. She is a Non-Executive Director of British Empire Securities and General Trust PLC and member of the National Finance Committee of Mencap and on the Finance Committee and the Nominations and Governance Committee of the Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted.
Alastair Kerr, Senior Independent Director
Alastair Kerr is currently a Non-Executive Director of the brewing company, Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC, where he is also the Chairman of the Remuneration Committee, Havelock Europa PLC and of White Stuff, the clothing retailer. Previously, he has been Managing Director, EMEA, of The Body Shop International, Managing Director of Kwik-Fit, Group Chief Executive of Park Group, Chief Executive of Virgin Retail Europe and held various senior executive roles within Storehouse PLC. Alastair Kerr is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.
Katherine Garrett-Cox , Chief Executive
Joined the Company as Chief Investment Officer in 2007; Appointed Chief Executive 2008.
Katherine Garrett-Cox graduated with a BA (Hons) in History from Durham University and is a member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals; CFA Institute. She was nominated a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in October 2005, is a Trustee of the Baring Foundation and sits on the Board of Fellows of the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona. She is a Founder Member of the Advisory Council of TheCityUK. In her role she is responsible for both the investment policy and asset allocation of the company as well as executive oversight for the business. She has more than 21 years' experience in the investment industry, having managed North American, Emerging Market and Global Equities portfolios. She was Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director of Morley Fund Management, the fund management division of Aviva where she was responsible for more than £160bn invested in equities, fixed income, private equity and alternatives. Prior to that, Katherine was Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director of Aberdeen Asset Management PLC. She began her career as a Portfolio Manager at Hill Samuel Asset Management, where she was Investment Director, Head of American Equities, managing a range of retail and institutional mandates in excess of $5.5bn. She is a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG.
Alan Trotter, Finance Director
Alan Trotter graduated with a BAcc (Hons) in Accountancy from the University of Glasgow and with a LLB from the University of London. In 1990 he joined Ernst & Young, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1993 and a chartered tax adviser in 1995. He gained considerable experience in financial services with them in both the UK and Hong Kong. In 1996 he joined Standard Life as Finance Manager responsible for Group statutory and regulatory reporting before moving to the newly established Standard Life Bank as Senior Finance Manager. He joined the Finance department of The Royal Bank of Scotland in 2001 specialising in group corporate finance. He left to join Legal and General in 2007 as Group Corporate Development Director with responsibility for the UK Central Finance function and delivery of the Group's cost challenge. He is a member of the University of Edinburgh Audit Committee.
