ArcelorMittal SA is engaged in steelmaking and mining activities. It operates through the following segments: Flat Carbon Americas, Flat Carbon Europe, Long Carbon Americas and Europe, Asia, Africa and CIS (AACIS), Distribution Solutions, and Mining. The Flat Carbon segments produces slabs, hot- and cold-rolled coils, coated steel, and plates. The Long Carbon Americas and Europe segment deals with the production of sections, wire rods, rebar, billets, blooms and wire drawings, and tubular products. The AACIS segment handles a combination of flat and long products and tubular products. The Distribution Solutions segment provides in-house trading and distribution, as well as value-added and customized steel solutions. The Mining segment supplies iron ore and coal. The company was founded by Lakshmi Niwas Mittal in 1989 and is headquartered in Luxembourg.

Lakshmi N Mittal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Lakshmi N Mittal is the chairman and chief executive officer of ArcelorMittal. Mr Mittal founded Mittal Steel Company (formerly the LNM Group) in 1976.
Mr Mittal is a philanthropist and a member of various boards, including Goldman Sachs and EADS. He is a member of the Indian Prime Minister’s Global Advisory Council, the Foreign Investment Council in Kazakhstan, the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council, the World Steel Association’s Executive Committee and the Presidential International Advisory Board of Mozambique. He sits on the advisory board of the Kellogg School of Management in the US and is a member of the board of trustees of Cleveland Clinic.
Lakshmi Mittal began his career working in the family's steelmaking business in India, and has more than 35 years’ experience working in the steel and related industries.
In addition to forcing the pace of consolidation in the steel industry, he has also championed the development of integrated mini-mills and the use of direct-reduce iron as a scrap substitute for steelmaking. Following the transaction combining Ispat International and LNM Holdings to form Mittal Steel in December 2004, together with the simultaneous announcement of the acquisition of International Steel Group in the United States, he led the formation of the world’s then-leading steel producer. In 2006, under his leadership, Mittal Steel merged with Arcelor to form ArcelorMittal.
Among his many awards and honours, he was named ‘Business Person of 2006’ by The Sunday Times, ‘International Newsmaker of the Year 2006’ by Time magazine and ‘Person of the Year 2006’ by the Financial Times. He has received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour, and a Forbes Lifetime Achievement Award.
Aditya Mittal, Chief Financial Officer
Aditya Mittal is chief financial officer (CFO) of ArcelorMittal with responsibility for Flat Carbon Europe, investor relations and communications. He joined Mittal Steel in 1997, and was president and CFO of Mittal Steel Company from 2004 to 2006. As CFO of Mittal Steel, he initiated and led Mittal Steel’s offer for Arcelor.
In 2008 Aditya Mittal was named ‘European Business Leader of the Future’ by CNBC Europe. In 2009 he was ranked fourth in the ‘40 under 40’ list of Fortune magazine. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Forum, the Young Presidents’ Organization, a board member at the Wharton School, Bennett, Coleman & Co, PPR and a member of Citigroup’s international advisory board.
Aditya Mittal has a degree in economics from the Wharton School in Pennsylvania, US. He is the son of Lakshmi N Mittal.
Dr Louis Schorsch, CTO
Dr Louis Schorsch joined the group management board in 2011. Prior to this he was president and chief executive officer of Flat Carbon Americas and a member of the ArcelorMittal management committee. He previously led the US operations of the Mittal Group, Mittal Steel USA and Ispat Inland.
Before this, Dr Schorsch spent most of his career as a partner at McKinsey & Co and co-leader of its metals practice. He is the author of numerous articles related to the steel sector and co-authored the 1983 book Steel: Upheaval in a Basic Industry.
He holds a degree from Georgetown University and a doctorate in economics from American University, both in Washington DC, US.
