Telefónica SA is an integrated telecommunications operator, providing communication, information and entertainment solutions. It operates through four business units: Telefónica Europe, Telefónica Latinoamérica, Telefónica Digital and Global Resources. The Telefónica Europe business unit includes operations in Germany, Slovakia, Spain, Ireland, United Kingdom and Czech Republic. The Telefónica Latinoamérica business unit includes operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The Telefónica Digital business provides digital services, which include cloud computing, mobile advertising, mobile to mobile and eHealth. The Global Resources business unit offers network and operations, information technology, procurement, global solutions, group services and global human resources services. The company was founded on April 19, 1924 and is headquartered in Madrid, Spain.

César Alierta , César Alierta César Alierta Izuel Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Born May 5, 1945, César Alierta holds a degree in law from the University of Zaragoza and an MBA from Columbia University in New York (1970).
He has been Executive Chairman and CEO of Telefónica since July, 2000 and is also a member of the Boards of Directors of China Unicom and Telecom Italia.
Since September, 2010, he has been an independent board member, chairman of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Nominations Committee of the Board of Directors of International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG), the company resulting from the merger of Iberia and British Airways.
Mr. Alierta is also a member of the Colombia Business School Board of Overseers and chairman of the Social Board of the UNED (Spain`s Distance Education University).
Between 1970 and 1985, he was General Manager of the Capital Markets division at Banco Urquijo in Madrid. Subsequently, Mr. Alierta was the Chairman and founder of Beta Capital, which he combined as from 1991 with his post as Chairman of the Spanish Financial Analysts' Association. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors and Standing Committee of the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In 1996, César Alierta became Chairman of Tabacalera, S.A., where he directed the cross-border merger with the French company, Seita. The result of this merger was Altadis, where he served as Chairman until July, 2000 when he was appointed Chairman of Telefónica. He has been a member of the Telefónica Board of Directors since 1997.
Alierta has chaired the Business Council for Competitiveness (CEC) since its inception in February 2011. CEC is comprised of 15 large Spanish companies and Instituto de Empresa Familiar (Family Business Institute) and was set up as a think tank that puts commitment and effort into its proposals for enhancing competitiveness, contributing to economic recovery and strengthening international confidence in Spain.
Ángel Vilá, Chief Financial and Corporate Development Officer
Mr Vilá joined Telefónica in 1997 as Group Controller, moving on to become CFO of Telefónica Internacional, where he led the Telebras privatisation team.
In 2000, he was appointed Group Head of Corporate Development. In this position, he executed landmark corporate acquisitions such as O2 plc and Brasilcel/Vivo. Other significant transactions would include Telco SpA and Cesky Telecom, as well as the disposals of Airwave and TPI.
From 2010, Mr. Vilá also oversaw the Affiliates group, comprising Atento, T. Gestiona and T. Contenidos.
Prior to joining Telefónica, he held positions at Citigroup, McKinsey&Co;, Ferrovial and Planeta.
Ángel Vilá is member of the Boards of Directors of Telco SpA, Atento, T. Contenidos, Digital+ and Telefónica O2 Czech. He previously served on the Boards of BBVA, Endemol, CTC Chile and Terra Lycos, and the Advisory panel of Macquarie MEIF funds.
Mr. Vilá graduated in Industrial Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and holds a MBA from Columbia University (New York).

Mr. Ramiro Sánchez de Lerín serves as our General Secretary and Secretary to our Board of Directors. He is also a Member of the Executive Committee.
He began his career in Arthur Andersen, first working for its audit department and later for its tax department.
In 1982, he became a Government Attorney (Abogado del Estado) and started working for the local tax authorities in Madrid (Delegación de Hacienda de Madrid). Afterwards he was assigned to the State Secretariat for the European Communities and later to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
He has been General Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Elosúa, S.A., Tabacalera, S.A., Altadis, S.A. and Xfera Móviles, S.A.
He has also held teaching positions in Instituto Católico de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ICADE), Instituto de Empresa and Escuela de Hacienda Pública.
