Sandstorm Gold Ltd. is a gold streaming company. Sandstorm provides upfront financing for gold mining companies that are looking for capital. In return, Sandstorm receives a gold streaming agreement. This agreement gives Sandstorm the right to purchase a percentage of the life of mine gold produced, at a fixed price. Sandstorm is a non-operating gold mining company with a portfolio of seven gold streams, five of which are producing gold, and three royalties. Sandstorm plans to grow and diversify its low cost production profile through the acquisition of additional gold streams.
Mr. Watson is the former Chief Financial Officer of Silver Wheaton Corp., a mining company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange. In that role, Mr. Watson helped raise over US$1 billion in debt and equity to fund Silver Wheaton's growth. Mr. Watson is a Chartered Accountant, holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with honours, from the University of British Columbia. He has won numerous awards for his professional and charitable achievements including the Early Achievement Award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and Canada's Top 40 Under 40 award. Mr. Watson is also President, CEO and Director of Sandstorm Metals & Energy Ltd., the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board of Bear Creek Mining Corp. and a director of Blue Gold Mining Inc.
David Awram, Executive Vice President and Director
Until July 2008, Mr. Awram was the Director of Investor Relations for Silver Wheaton Corp., a mining company based in Vancouver and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange. Prior to his role with Silver Wheaton he was Manager, Investor Relations with Diamond Fields International Ltd. Mr. Awram graduated in 1996 from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Mr. Awram is also Executive Vice President and Director of Sandstorm Metals & Energy Ltd.
Erfan Kazemi, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Kazemi is a former Senior Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. In that role, he worked primarily in the mining and forestry sectors where he assisted clients in areas such as public financings, mergers and acquisitions, US/SEC securities filings, and various other areas. He has managed the audits of billion dollar multinational entities and also co-authored several publications including the annual BC Mining Industry Survey. Mr. Kazemi articled with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he obtained the Chartered Accountant designation and is a graduate of the University of British Columbia where he received a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics).
In the Community, Mr. Kazemi serves as Vice-Chair of the Vancouver Public Library Board, is an officer of the Vancouver Branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum and is a former member of the University Of British Columbia Board of Governors. He has received numerous awards including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia's Community Service Award and the University of British Columbia Alumni Association's Outstanding Future Alumnus Award.
Ron Ho, Vice President, Finance
Mr. Ho joined Sandstorm after serving as the Chief Financial Officer for SNS Silver Corporation, where he contributed to equity capital raises and project evaluation and development. Prior to that, Mr. Ho was an Equity Analyst at Raymond James Ltd. where he was responsible for sector institutional research. Mr. Ho began his career at Deloitte & Touche, focusing on public company financial reporting in both the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Ho is a Chartered Accountant, holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Ho is also a director with Americas Petrogas Inc.
David E. De Witt, Director
Mr. De Witt is a founder and the Chairman of Pathway Capital Ltd., a Vancouver based private venture capital company. Mr. De Witt has extensive experience in the areas of corporate and securities law, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Mr. De Witt graduated with a BComm/LLB from the University of British Columbia and practiced corporate, securities and mining law until his retirement from the practice of law in January 1997. He currently holds directorships in a number of public companies involved in the natural resource field and has experience in resource projects located in Latin America, North America and Asia.
John P. A. Budreski, Director
Mr. Budreski is an independant businessman and an adivsor on capital markets matters. From 2005 to 2007 he was the President and CEO of Orion Securities Inc. From 2009 until 2012 he was a Managing Director and a Vice Chairman with Cormark Securities Inc. Mr. Budreski is also a Director of Erdene Resource Development Corp.
Andrew T. Swarthout, Director
Mr. Swarthout is CEO and Director of Bear Creek Mining Corp. a multi-asset silver company based in Peru. Prior to Bear Creek, Mr. Swarthout was an officer and member of the management committee of Southern Peru Copper Corporation where he participated in decision making during a dynamic period of corporate expansions, financing and project development. As Vice-President of Exploration from 1995 to 2000, he was directly responsible for two major discoveries, as well as reserve expansions on the order of 200 per cent on the Southern Peru Copper's two porphyry copper deposits.
Mr. Swarthout has participated in several deposit discoveries and reserve expansions in North and South America which are in production, or which will be in production in the future. Mr. Swarthout has participated in project permitting and financing, has managed several prefeasibility and financial scoping studies and has evaluated reserves on numerous precious and base metals deposits.
