QUALCOMM, Inc. develops, designs, manufactures and markets digital telecommunications products and services. It also supplies integrated circuits and system software based on code division multiple access, orthogonal frequency division multiple access and other technologies for use in voice and data communications, networking, application processing, multimedia and global positioning system products to device and infrastructure manufacturers. The company sells equipment, software and services to transportation and other companies to wirelessly connect their assets and workforce. It operates through four segments: Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, Qualcomm Technology Licensing, Qualcomm Wireless & Internet, and Qualcomm Strategic Initiatives. The Qualcomm CDMA Technologies segment develops and supplies integrated circuits and system software based on CDMA, OFDMA and other technologies for use in voice and data communications, networking, application processing, multimedia and global positioning system products. The Qualcomm Technology Licensing segment provides rights to use portions of the company's intellectual property portfolio, which includes certain patent rights essential to and/or useful in the manufacture and sale of certain wireless products, including, without limitation, products implementing CDMA2000, WCDMA, CDMA TDD, GSM/GPRS/EDGE and OFDMA standards and their derivatives. The Qualcomm Wireless and Internet segment consists of four divisions: Qualcomm Internet Services, Qualcomm Enterprise Services, Qualcomm Government Technologies, and Firethorn. The Qualcomm Enterprise Services division provides fleet management, satellite- and terrestrial-based two-way wireless information and position reporting and other services, software and hardware to transportation and logistics companies. The Qualcomm Internet Services division offers content enablement services for the wireless industry and push-to-talk and other software products and services for wireless network operators. The Qualcomm Government Technologies division provides development and other services and related products involving wireless communications technologies to government agencies and their contractors. The Firethorn division builds and manages software applications that enable certain mobile commerce services. The company was founded by Irwin Mark Jacobs, Franklin Antonio, Adelia Coffman, Andrew Cohen, Klein Gilhousen, Andrew Viterbi, and Harvey White in July 1985 and is headquartered in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Paul E. Jacobs is chairman of Qualcomm’s board of directors and the Company’s chief executive officer. A leader in the field of mobile communications for over two decades and a key architect of Qualcomm’s strategic vision, Dr. Jacobs’ responsibilities include leadership and oversight of all the Company’s initiatives and operations. Through his technology innovations and advocacy, Dr. Jacobs spearheaded Qualcomm’s efforts to develop and commercialize mobile technology breakthroughs that have contributed significantly to the growth of both the Company and the industry. Important developments which began under Dr. Jacobs include: the first Palm OS®-based smartphone; inclusion of GPS capabilities in mobile phones (which led to the acquisition of SnapTrack™ and Qualcomm's development of gpsOne™ position-location technology); the Brew® system, which enables over-the-air downloading of applications; QChat, a Voice over IP, push-to-talk system; and mirasol®, an advanced reflective display technology. Following the completion of his Ph.D. in 1989 and a year as a post-doctoral researcher at a French government lab in Toulouse, Dr. Jacobs joined the Company fulltime in 1990 as a development engineer leading the mobile phone digital signal processor software team. Five years later, Dr. Jacobs became vice president and general manager of the combined handset and integrated circuit division, which was subsequently divided into Qualcomm Consumer Products (QCP) and Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, respectively. In 1996, Dr. Jacobs was named senior vice president of the Company and in 1997, president of QCP. Under Dr. Jacobs, QCP (prior to its sale to Kyocera Wireless in 2000) moved into the No. 2 CDMA handset supplier position in the U.S. In 2000, Dr. Jacobs was named executive vice president of Qualcomm and in 2001, group president of Qualcomm Wireless & Internet (QWI), where he oversaw Qualcomm Technology Licensing, Qualcomm Internet Services, MediaFLO USA Inc. and MediaFLO technology development, Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Qualcomm Enterprise Services, Qualcomm Government Technologies and Qualcomm Technology & Ventures. As Qualcomm executive vice president, he was also responsible for administering the Company's corporate marketing functions and standards organization. Dr. Jacobs became CEO in July 2005 and was appointed Chairman in 2009. As an innovative leader of a broad range of technical teams within Qualcomm, Dr. Jacobs has been granted more than 40 patents for his inventions in the areas of wireless technology and devices. Dr. Jacobs serves on the Board of Directors for A123Systems, is chairman of the Advisory Board of the University of California, Berkeley, College of Engineering; is a trustee of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; and is a member of the US-India CEO Forum and the Young President's Organization. Dr. Jacobs received his bachelor's (1984) and master's (1986) degrees as well as his doctorate (1989) in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and subsequently endowed the Paul and Stacy Jacobs Distinguished Professor of Engineering chair at the school. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. William E. Keitel, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

William E. Keitel serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Qualcomm Incorporated. Keitel was appointed chief financial officer in 2002. He joined the Company in 1996 and has worked in senior management roles within corporate finance, serving as senior vice president and corporate controller from 1998 to 2002. From 1983 until 1996, Keitel served in various senior finance roles for Nortel, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer. Prior to Nortel, he was with PepsiCo. Keitel holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in business administration from Arizona State University

Steve Mollenkopf, President and Chief Operating Officer

Steve Mollenkopf serves as president and chief operating officer of Qualcomm, leading the company’s business operations, product and worldwide sales groups. In this role, Mollenkopf continues to serve as president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT). He also is a member of Qualcomm’s Executive Committee, helping to drive Qualcomm’s overall global strategy. Since 2008, Mollenkopf led QCT and served as executive vice president and group president of Qualcomm, driving growth and providing critical technical and operational leadership. QCT, the company’s semiconductor business, is the world’s largest wireless chip supplier and fabless semiconductor company, in terms of revenue. Mollenkopf joined Qualcomm in 1994 as an engineer before joining the QCT team in 1999. Serving in various capacities within QCT, including senior vice president of the Cellular Products Group, he played a central role in developing QCT’s roadmap and led the development and commercialization of the 3GPP family of air interface technologies. A published IEEE author, Mollenkopf holds patents in areas such as power estimation and measurement, multi-standard transmitter system and wireless communication transceiver technology. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Semiconductor Industry Association and serves as a Board Member and is on the Board Executive Committee and CEO Council for the Global Semiconductor Alliance. Mollenkopf holds two electrical engineering degrees, a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech and a masters of science in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
