The company operates through following business segments: Asset Management, Property, Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, Private Equity, Residential Development, Service and Corporate Activities. The Asset Management segment operations consist of managing listed entities, private funds and public securities on behalf of company clients and its own and also provide transaction and advisory services. The Property segment operations include the ownership and operation of office properties, retail properties, industrial, multifamily, and other property investments located primarily in major North American, Australian, Brazilian and European cities. The Renewable Energy segment operations include the ownership and operation of primarily hydroelectric power generating facilities on river systems in North America and Brazil, and wind power generating facilities in North America. The Infrastructure segment operations include the ownership and operation of utilities, transport, energy, and timberlands and agricultural operations located in Australia, North America, Europe and South America. The Private Equity segment operations include the investments and activities overseen by company's private equity group. These include direct investments and investments in private equity funds. The Residential Development segment operations consist predominantly of homebuilding and land development in North America, and condominium development in Brazil. The Service segment activities include construction management and contracting, and property services operations which include global corporate relocation, facilities management and residential brokerage services. The Corporate segment activities include the investment of the company's cash and financial assets, as well as the management of corporate capitalization, including corporate borrowings, capital securities and preferred equity which fund a portion of the capital invested in other operations. Brookfield Asset Management was founded on August 1, 1997 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Barry Blattman, Senior Managing Partner
Barry is the Senior Managing Partner responsible for Brookfield’s global opportunistic real estate investment programs, who with Ric Clark, oversees Brookfield’s global real estate investment activities. Barry has over 25 years of real estate experience and has held various senior management positions within the company, including the creation and oversight of Brookfield Real Estate Financial Partners, Brookfield’s Private Funds Platform, the Brookfield Real Estate Turnaround Consortium and other Brookfield funds. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2002, Barry was a Managing Director with Merrill Lynch, responsible for various businesses including real estate equity and debt, structured finance and Latin American debt capital markets. Barry began his career in 1986 with Salomon Brothers. Barry received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and an MBA from New York University.
Jeff Blidner, Senior Managing Partner
Jeff is the Senior Managing Partner responsible for strategic planning as well as transaction execution. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield’s Private Funds Group, Chairman and a director of Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners, Chairman and a director of Rouse Properties, Inc. and a director of Brookfield Infrastructure Partners. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2000, Jeff was a senior partner at a Canadian law firm.
Richard (Ric) Clark, Senior Managing Partner
Ric is a Senior Managing Partner and global head of real estate at Brookfield, CEO of Brookfield Office Properties, a member of the boards of directors of Brookfield Office Properties and General Growth Properties and co-heads Brookfield's opportunistic real estate investing programs with Barry Blattman. He has over 30 years of real estate experience. Ric has been employed by the company and its predecessors since 1984 in various senior roles including President of Brookfield Office Properties’ U.S. Commercial Operations. Ric holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
