The Petroleum segment explores, develops and produces oil and gas. The Aluminum segment engages in the mining of bauxite, refining of bauxite into alumina and smelting of alumina into aluminum metal. The Base Metals segment engages in the mining of copper, silver, lead, zinc, molybdenum, uranium and gold. The Diamonds and Specialty Products segment engages in the mining of diamonds and titanium minerals and potash development. The Stainless Steel Materials segment produces nickel products. The Iron Ore segment explores for iron ore. The Manganese segment produces manganese metal and alloys. The Metallurgical Coal segment engages in the mining of metallurgical coal. The Energy Coal segment produces thermal coal. It has operations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The company was founded on May 9, 1996 and is headquartered in London, the United Kingdom.

In 2004, Graham left BHP Billiton for a two year period when he was General Manager Commercial for Iluka Resources Ltd.

Before joining BHP Billiton, she was General Counsel and Company Secretary for Bonlac Foods Limited. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries.
