General Mills, Inc. is a manufacturer and marketer of branded consumer foods sold through retail stores. It also supplies branded and unbranded food products to the foodservice and commercial baking industries. General Mills operates through three reportable business segments: U.S. Retail, International and Bakeries & Foodservice. The U.S. Retail segment reflects business with a wide variety of grocery stores, mass merchandisers, membership stores, natural food chains, and drug, dollar and discount chains operating throughout the United States. This segment products include ready-to-eat cereals, refrigerated yogurt, ready-to-serve soup, dry dinners, shelf stable and frozen vegetables, refrigerated and frozen dough products, dessert and baking mixes, frozen pizza and pizza snacks, grain, fruit and savory snacks, and a wide variety of organic products include granola bars, cereal, and soup. The International segment consists of retail and foodservice businesses outside of the United States. This segment products include ready-to-eat cereals, shelf stable and frozen vegetables, dry dinners, refrigerated and frozen dough products, dessert and baking mixes, frozen pizza, snacks, refrigerated yogurt, and grain and fruit snacks. The Bakeries & Foodservice segment products include cereals, snacks, yogurt, unbaked and fully baked frozen dough products, baking mixes, and flour. The company was founded by Cadwallader C. Washburn in 1866 and is headquartered in Minneapolis, MN

Ken Powell is chairman and chief executive officer of General Mills, which as the world’s sixth-largest food company produces and markets leading brands such as Cheerios, Häagen-Dazs, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Green Giant, Nature Valley and more.

Powell joined General Mills in 1979 and progressed through a variety of positions in the company. He has spent more than a third of his career overseas, and in 1990 helped launch Cereal Partners Worldwide (CPW) – the company’s joint venture with Nestlé based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
In 1996, he returned to the United States to become president of Yoplait USA, and was named president of the General Mills Big G cereal division in 1997.
Powell returned to Switzerland in 1999 to become chief executive officer of CPW, helping grow the joint venture into what is now a $2 billion global cereal business marketing in more than 130 countries around the world.
In 2006, Powell was elected president and chief operating officer of General Mills with overall global operating responsibility for the company. He was elected chief executive officer in September 2007 and chairman in May 2008.
General Mills is regularly listed among the world’s leading businesses. In 2011, for example, General Mills was once again named to Fortune magazine’s annual list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.”
In 2010, the company was named to Working Mother magazine’s “100 Best Companies” Hall of Fame, and was included in the Financial Times’ listing of the “United Kingdom’s 50 Best Workplaces,” and The Great Place to Work Institute’s “2010 Best Workplaces in Canada.”
Mark W. Addicks, Senior Vice President; Chief Marketing Officer
As senior vice president, chief marketing officer, Mark Addicks has overall responsibility for the company’s world-class marketing function and its marketing services organization, Gcom.
In his role, Addicks has oversight responsibilities for the company’s global brand-building strategy, including its advertising, promotions, public relations, design, packaging, online, licensing and multicultural initiatives. He also oversees some of the industry’s most recognized equity platforms, including Box Tops for Education and the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. Addicks also has pioneered several cutting-edge marketing ventures.

Since joining General Mills in 1988, Addicks has held marketing positions with the Yoplait USA and Big G cereal divisions. As vice president of Big G New Enterprises, he led highly successful new product development efforts, including Frosted Cheerios.
Addicks was named vice president of Marketing Communications in January 2000, and led the successful integration of the General Mills and Pillsbury marketing functions in 2001. He was named chief marketing officer in January 2004, and was promoted to his current position in June 2007.
Before joining General Mills, he led marketing communication programs for Anderson, Clayton & Company, a diversified foods company based in Houston. During the same period, he started and managed three entrepreneurial businesses in Houston.
Addick’s work has been widely recognized with numerous industry awards, both for his innovation and marketing expertise. Advertising Age named him one of the top 100 marketers in 1999, and one of the top 25 Power Brokers in both 2003 and 2004. In addition, he has been invited to guest lecture at some of the nation’s leading business programs, including Harvard, Tuck and the University of Chicago.
Donal L. Mulligan, Chief Financial Officer
Don Mulligan was named executive vice president, chief financial officer of General Mills in August 2007. In this capacity, Mulligan has overall company responsibility for worldwide finance, mergers & acquisitions, strategy, investor relations, external reporting, internal audit, tax, treasury, global business services, and information systems. He is also a trustee of the General Mills Foundation.

Mulligan joined General Mills in September 1998 as vice president of finance for the International division.
In 2004, he was named vice president of finance for the technical community. He was appointed vice president and treasurer in 2006 before being elected executive vice president in 2007.
Prior to joining General Mills, Mulligan spent 11 years with PepsiCo, Inc. and its spinoff Yum Brands, where he held various international finance positions. Before joining PepsiCo, Mulligan worked for GTE, Inc. in its financial associate program for two years.
