Company Description

Bemis Company, Inc. manufactures and sells flexible packaging products and pressure sensitive materials to customers throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The company operates through three segments: U.S. Packaging, Global Packaging, and Pressure Sensitive Materials. The U.S. Packaging segment represents all food, consumer, and industrial products packaging-related manufacturing operations located in the United States. The Global Packaging business segment includes all Bemis’ packaging-related manufacturing operations located outside of the United States as well as the global medical device and pharmaceutical packaging manufacturing operations. The Pressure Sensitive Materials segment is engaged in manufacturing pressure sensitive adhesive coated paper and film substrates sold into label, graphic and technical markets. Bemis Company, Inc. was founded by Judson Moss Bemis in 1858, is included in the S&P 500 Index, and is headquartered in Neenah, WI. Bemis has paid an annual dividend since 1922 and has increased its annual dividend payment for 30 consecutive years, earning it a place on Standard & Poor’s list of Dividend Aristocrats.

Henry Theisen, President & Chief Executive Officer
Henry Theisen is President and Chief Executive Officer of Bemis Company. He has been President of Bemis since 2007 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2008. He previously was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2003 to 2007 and Vice President of Operations from 2002 to 2003. From 1975 to 2002 he held various research and development, marketing, and management positions within the Company. Mr. Theisen is also a Director of Andersen Corporation, a privately-held company. As a 36 year veteran of the Company, Mr. Theisen brings extensive product development expertise and industry knowledge to the Board. His expertise extends from engineering, research, and product development to managing key customer relationships and developing marketing and sales strategies. He has an intimate understanding of our product designs and manufacturing methods and draws on that knowledge to evaluate the financial performance of the Company. Mr. Theisen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Scott Ullem, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Scott Ullem joined Bemis in 2008 as Vice President of Finance and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2010. Mr. Ullem is responsible for Bemis Company’s global financial operations, information technology, corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, and risk management. Prior to joining Bemis, Mr. Ullem served as co-Head of Diversified Industries in Bank of America’s Global Corporate & Investment Banking Division. Mr. Ullem worked at Bank of America from 2005 to 2008. Prior to Bank of America, he spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs in New York and Chicago, most recently as Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division. Mr. Ullem received his Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University and his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
William F. Austen, Group President
William Austen was named Group President in May 2012. Previously, Mr. Austen was Vice President of Operations for Bemis Company, a position he held since May 2004. Mr. Austen joined Bemis Company in 2000 as President of Bemis Company’s MACtac Division. Prior to joining Bemis, Mr. Austen held leadership positions at various manufacturing operations of General Electric Company, where he worked for 20 years. Mr. Austen received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in marine engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College and his master’s degree in engineering administration from George Washington University.
Sheri H. Edison, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Sheri Edison was named Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary in June 2010. In this capacity, Ms. Edison is responsible for all global legal operations of Bemis Company Inc., including trade compliance, patent and trademark, and product safety and stewardship. Ms. Edison came to Bemis Company from Hill-Rom, Inc., a global medical device manufacturer and distributor, where she had been Senior Vice President and chief Administrative Officer since 2007. Prior to 2007, Mr. Edison held senior management and general counsel positions at Hill-Rom, Inc., Batesville Casket Company, and LTV Steel. She started her career working in private practice and spent several years as a mergers and acquisitions and securities attorney at Jones Day. Ms. Edison graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California and received her law degree from the Northwestern School of Law.
Timothy S. Fliss, Vice President, Human Resources
Timothy Fliss was named Vice President of Human Resources in February 2010. Prior to joining Bemis Company, Mr. Fliss spent 19 years at Schneider National, Inc., where he was Executive Vice President of Human Resources. He also spent six years as an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Fliss graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and received his Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Jerry S. Krempa, Vice President and Controller
Jerry Krempa was named Vice President and Controller for Bemis Company in May 2011. Mr. Krempa joined Bemis in 1998 as Corporate Director of Tax and was promoted to Assistant Controller in 2007. Prior to joining Bemis Company, Mr. Krempa held tax positions at the public accounting firms of KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Krempa is a CPA and received both his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and his Masters of Science in Taxation Degree from DePaul University.
Melanie E. R. Miller, Vice President and Treasurer
Melanie E.R. Miller was named Vice President and Treasurer in 2005. Prior, Ms. Miller was Bemis Company’s vice President and Assistant Treasurer, a position she held since 2002. Ms. Miller joined Bemis Company in 2000 as Director of Investor Relations. Prior to joining Bemis, she served in finance and treasury management positions at Alliant Techsystems, Inc., an aerospace and defense company, and spent seven years in public accounting with KPMG. Ms. Miller is a CFA charterholder. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
James Ransom, Group President
James Ransom was named Group President in May 2012. Previously, Mr. Ransom was Vice President of Operations at Bemis Company, a position he held since 2007. Mr. Ransom joined Bemis Company in 2002 as President of Bemis’ Banner Packaging subsidiary. He was promoted to President of Bemis’ Curwood subsidiary in 2005. Prior to joining Bemis Company, Ransom was President and CEO of Promo Edge, a printing, packaging and marketing services subsidiary of Menasha Corporation. Mr. Ransom is a CPA and received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
William E. Jackson, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
William Jackson was named Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in March 2013. He joined Bemis from Dow Chemical where he participated on Dow's technology leadership team and held the position of Vice President, Global Research & Development - Dow Building and Construction, a $2 Billion global polymer business. Prior to Dow, he spent 16 years with GE, in Plastics, Lighting, and Appliances in leadership R&D, market development, and application engineering roles. In addition, Jackson serves as Chairman of the US Industrial Advisory Board to the Department of Energy US/China Clean Energy Research Center. He received his BS in Geology from the College of Wooster and received his MS and Ph.D. from Stanford University in Geology, with an emphasis in Material Science and Geochemistry.
