Vivi's Story of Continued Care

Vivi experienced a heart attack and then complications at a short term acute care hospital that led to a coma and bilateral amputation of her legs. She was taken to Kindred Hospital South Florida Ft. Lauderdale where the staff began to work with her and encourage her to participate in recovery. She was discharged from the hospital to Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation - Northfield where the staff continued her care by getting her on her new legs and back to her life.

Paul J. Diaz, Chief Executive Officer
Paul Diaz is currently Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Healthcare, Inc., one of the largest providers of healthcare services in the United States. Kindred is a FORTUNE 500 New York Stock Exchange listed company with revenues of approximately $5 billion and approximately 62,000 employees in 46 states.

Mr. Diaz is an attorney and accountant who earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from American University's Kogod School of Business and a law degree from Georgetown University.

Mr. Diaz currently serves on the Board of Directors of DaVita (NYSE:DVA) and the Board of Visitors of Georgetown University Law Center. He is also a member of the Business Roundtable and the Wall Street Journal CEO Council. He was formerly on the Board of PharMerica Corporation (NYSE:PMC), the Board of the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University and the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Suburban Hospital Healthcare Systems in Bethesda, Maryland.
Benjamin A. Breier, President and Chief Operating Officer
Benjamin A. Breier has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Kindred Healthcare, Inc. since May 2012. He was named Chief Operating Officer in August 2010. Previously he served as Executive Vice President and President of Kindred Healthcare’s Hospital Division from March 2008 to August 2010. Mr. Breier served as President of Kindred’s Peoplefirst Rehabilitation Division from August 2005 to March 2008.

Mr. Breier received his bachelor’s in economics from the Wharton School of Business at The University of Pennsylvania in 1993. He also holds a master’s in business administration and a master’s in health administration from The University of Miami (Fla.).

In September 2010, Mr. Breier was named to the 2010 “Up & Comers” list by Modern Healthcare magazine. The annual “Up & Comers” list recognizes rising young leaders aged 40 and under who are making a difference in healthcare.
