John Rishton, Chief Executive Officer
In April 2011 John Rishton became Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce succeeding Sir John Rose. John Rishton was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Rolls-Royce in 2007 and served as Chairman of the Audit Committee as well as being a member of the Ethics and Nominations Committees.
John was Chief Executive Officer of Royal Ahold, the global retail group, from 2005 March 2011.
Previously he had been a senior executive at British Airways Plc where he served as Chief Financial Officer from 2001 to 2005.
John began his career in 1979 at Ford Motor Company and held a variety of positions both in the UK and in Europe. He is a former Non-Executive Director of Allied Domecq. He is 53.
Alain Michaelis , Operations Director
Alain Michaelis was appointed Operations Director in January 2013. He is responsible for the industrial capability and performance of the group.
He joined Rolls-Royce in December 2008 as President, Gas Turbine Supply Chain and Deputy Chief Operating Officer.
Alain has spent most of his career leading Supply Chain and Operational teams, notably at Tenneco (SVP, Supply Chain & Manufacturing) and at Wolseley Plc (Supply Chain Director, Europe). He started his career as a mechanical design engineer with Ove Arup, where he led engineering projects including the reconstruction of Potzdammer Platz in Berlin.
Alain has lived and worked in six different countries and speaks French and German. He read Engineering at Imperial College, gained an MBA from INSEAD in 1996 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He is a board member of ITP.
Mark Morris, Finance Director
Mark Morris joined Rolls-Royce in 1986 as a graduate with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Manchester. After a period in the graduate training scheme, Mark joined the Group's Treasury department in 1988. During his initial five years within the Treasury Group, Mark held a number of management posts. Prior to becoming the Financial Risk Manager in 1991, Mark was responsible for the management of the Group's foreign exchange activities, investments and borrowings.
In 1994, Mark joined the Group's Customer Financing division where he was responsible for aircraft financing, aircraft trading and the development of Rolls-Royce Capital Limited.
In 1995 Mark took a secondment to the USA, as Treasurer for IAE International Aero Engines AG, a joint venture between United Technologies Corporation and Rolls-Royce with an annual turnover of c. US$5 billion. Mark was Group Treasurer for Rolls-Royce plc from 2001–2011 and was responsible for Rolls-Royce Capital Limited, the Mergers & Acquisitions group and the Group's pensions risk management activities.
Mark assumed his position as Finance Director on 1 January 2012.
