John C. Orr , President & Chief Executive Officer
John C. Orr, 61, was named Myers Industries' President and Chief Executive Officer on May 1, 2005 and appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company later that year. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Operating Officer, a position to which he was appointed in August 2003, in charge of the Company's worldwide manufacturing and distribution operations. Mr. Orr joined Myers Industries in August 2000 as General Manager of the Company's Buckhorn
subsidiary, a leading manufacturer of reusable plastic material handling containers and pallets.
Prior to joining Myers Industries, Mr. Orr had a distinguished 28-year career with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, serving as Vice President of Manufacturing for North American Tire Division since 1996. Mr. Orr started with Goodyear in 1972, and his early career was in production and plant management at facilities throughout the United States, in Canada, and in Australia. Between 1991 to 1996, he was Director of Manufacturing for Goodyear's Latin American Division. Mr. Orr is a graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Organizational Communication.
Mr. Orr also serves on the Board of Directors at Akron General Medical Center, as well as Libbey Inc. (NYSE: LBY), a leading provider of tableware and other products for both foodservice and consumer markets.
David B. Knowles , Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
David B. Knowles, 51, joined the Company as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in June 2009. Mr. Knowles is responsible for all manufacturing and distribution operations, sales, marketing, research and development and supply chain functions.
From 2003 until he joined Myers Industries, Mr. Knowles was President and Chief Executive Officer of Aristech Acrylics LLC, a manufacturer of continuously cast acrylic sheet and solid surface products used in diverse applications like bathtubs, hot tubs, signage, countertops and more. Prior to joining Aristech, he was Vice President and General Manager for Honeywell's Performance Products business, where he earned his Six Sigma Plus Leadership Black Belt.
From 1991 to 2000, Mr. Knowles advanced through various positions with the former M.A. Hanna Company (now PolyOne Corporation), including Director, Corporate Development; Senior Director, Corporate Strategy and Development; and finally Executive Vice President and President of the company's $500 million resin distribution business.
Mr. Knowles is a graduate of Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management with a Master's Degree in Management, concentrating in Economics, Finance and Marketing. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Michigan.
Gregg Branning, 51, joined the Company as Chief Financial Officer in September 2012.
Since 2003, Mr. Branning served in leadership positions with various subsidiaries of Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR), most recently, as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Thomson Industries, a Danaher subsidiary, leading the financial organization of a global business that develops and manufactures technological products in industrial actuation, machine building and automation. Also at Danaher, he served as President of Accu-Sort Systems, a global developer and manufacturer of advanced technological products in the high-speed auto identification and data capture market. He also served as Chief Financial Officer for Joslyn Hi-Voltage, a business with locations in Ohio and the United Kingdom.
Prior to joining Danaher, Mr. Branning spent 13 years in various financial and strategic planning positions with Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation, a manufacturer of commercial and military systems for air, land and sea. He also spent four years with Ernst & Young LLP as an audit manager.
Mr. Branning received an MBA degree from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Oral Roberts University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
