The company operates its business through five segments: Private Banks, Investment Advisors, Institutional Investors, Investment Managers and Investments in New Businesses. The Private Banks segment provides investment processing and investment management programs to banks and trust institutions, independent wealth advisers located in the United Kingdom, and financial advisors in Canada. The Investment Advisors segment provides investment management programs to affluent investors through a network of independent registered investment advisors, financial planners, and other investment professionals in the U.S. The Institutional Investors segment provides investment management programs and administrative outsourcing solutions to retirement plan sponsors, hospitals, and not-for-profit organizations. The Investment Managers segment provides investment processing, fund processing, and operational outsourcing solutions to investment managers, fund companies and banking institutions located in the U.S., and to investment managers of alternative asset classes such as hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, and private equity funds across both registered and partnership structures. The Investments in New Businesses segment provides investment management programs to ultra-high-net-worth families residing in the U.S. through the company's SEI Wealth Network Business unit. It was founded by Alfred P. West, Jr. in 1968 and is headquartered in Oaks, PA.
