Executives

Robert J. Hugin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Robert J. Hugin has been our President and Chief Executive Officer since June 16, 2010. He was previously President and Chief Operating Officer between May 1, 2006 and June 16, 2010, and was elected by the Board of Directors to serve as a Director in December 2001. Mr. Hugin served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from June 1999 to May 1, 2006. Previously, Mr. Hugin had been a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan & Co. Inc., which he joined in 1985. He received an A.B. degree from Princeton University in 1976 and an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1985 having served as a United States Marine Corps infantry officer during the intervening period. Mr. Hugin also serves on the Board of Directors of PhRMA, The Medicines Company, Atlantic Health System Inc. and Family Promise, a national non-profit network assisting homeless families, and is past chairman of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey.
Jacqualyn A. Fouse, Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Fouse joined Celgene as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in September 2010. Previously, she had served as Chief Financial Officer at Bunge Limited, a leading global agribusiness and food company, since July 2007. Ms. Fouse served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Strategy at Alcon Laboratories, Inc., the world’s leading eye care company, from 2002 to 2007. Prior to Alcon, Ms. Fouse was Chief Financial Officer of the Swissair Group and Group Treasurer of Nestle. Earlier in her career she served in various financial positions with LTV Aerospace and Defense, Celanese, Alcon and Nestle. Ms. Fouse holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in Economics from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also serves as a member of the board of directors for Dick’s Sporting Goods, an NYSE-listed company.
Perry A. Karsen, Chief Operating Officer
Perry Karsen became Chief Operations Officer of Celgene in July 2010. He returned to Celgene after spending 18-months at Pearl Therapeutics where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Karsen was with Celgene from 2004 to early 2009, first as Senior Vice President, Business Development and he later added President of the Asia/Pacific & Japan region to his responsibilities. He joined Celgene from Human Genome Sciences where he was Senior Vice President, Business Development. Previously Mr. Karsen was Vice President, Strategic Business Analysis and Development at Bristol Myers Squibb and Director, Business Development and Representative Director, Japan for Genentech. He started his career at Abbott Laboratories where he served in a range of roles over 11 years. Perry Karsen has a Masters of Management degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, a Masters in Teaching of Biology from Duke University, and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He also serves on the Board of Directors of BIO (Biotechnology Industry Organization), BayBio and the Life Sciences Foundation.
