James E. Rohr, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
James E. Rohr is chairman and chief executive officer of The PNC Financial Services Group, one of the largest diversified financial services companies in the United States.
Rohr joined the company through its management development program in 1972. He proceeded through various marketing and management responsibilities in several Corporate Banking areas, including lending, treasury management services and merchant banking. He was elected a vice chairman of PNC in 1989, named a director in 1990, elected as president in 1992 and named chief operating officer in 1998. Rohr was named chief executive officer in May 2000 and chairman in May 2001. For his leadership of PNC, Rohr was named American Banker's "Banker of the Year" for 2007.
Rohr is a director of BlackRock, Inc., ATI, EQT Corporation, RAND Board of Trustees and the International Monetary Conference. He is a member of the Federal Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve System and is the immediate past chairman and member of The Financial Services Roundtable. He is a past chairman of the Pennsylvania Business Roundtable, former director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and former chairman of BITS, the technology group for The Financial Services Roundtable.
In addition, Rohr supports a number of civic, cultural and educational organizations. He is a director of Carnegie Mellon University, The Heinz Endowments and the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP). He is a member of the board of trustees for The University of Notre Dame; is past chairman and a member of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust; and, is past chairman and member of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. He is a board member and former chairman of the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In October 2006, Rohr received the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship. In May 2007, he received the Sesame Workshop Corporate Honoree Award and in May 2008 he received the Women's Institute for a Secure Retirement (WISER) Hero Award from the Heinz Family Philanthropies. He was named a Horatio Alger Award recipient for 2011 by the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans.
Rohr earned his bachelor of arts degree in 1970 from the University of Notre Dame and his master's in business administration from The Ohio State University in 1972.
William S. Demchak, President
William S. Demchak is president of The PNC Financial Services Group and its principle banking subsidiary, PNC Bank, National Association. He is responsible for all of PNC's businesses, including Corporate & Institutional Banking, the Asset Management Group, Retail Banking and Mortgage Banking. In addition, he is a director of BlackRock, Inc.
Demchak joined PNC in 2002 as chief financial officer. In July 2005, he was named head of PNC's Corporate & Institutional Banking responsible for PNC?s middle market and large corporate businesses, as well as capital markets, real estate finance, equity management and leasing. Demchak was promoted to senior vice chairman in 2009 and named head of PNC businesses in August 2010. He was elected to his current position in April 2012.
Before joining PNC in 2002, he served as the global head of Structured Finance and Credit Portfolio for JP Morgan Chase. Demchak also held key leadership roles at JP Morgan prior to its merger with the Chase Manhattan Corporation in 2000. He was actively involved in developing JP Morgan?s strategic agenda, and was a member of the company?s capital and credit risk committees.
Demchak is a member of The Financial Services Roundtable and serves on the Regulatory Management Committee. He is a board member and chairman of the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, he serves on the board of directors of the Extra Mile Education Foundation and the YMCA of Pittsburgh.
Demchak received a bachelor of science degree from Allegheny College and earned an MBA with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Michigan.
Richard J. Johnson, Chief Financial Officer
Richard J. Johnson is chief financial officer for The PNC Financial Services Group. Johnson is responsible for managing the finance functions including the business chief financial officers, performance measurement, the controller function, tax, Sarbanes-Oxley, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining PNC in 2003, Johnson was president and chief executive officer of JP Morgan Services in Delaware, a subsidiary of JP Morgan. Johnson held a number of management positions at JP Morgan, including European chief financial officer in London and global business markets chief financial officer in New York City. In addition, Johnson was an audit manager at Coopers and Lybrand. Prior to being named to his current position in July 2005, Johnson was director of finance for PNC.
Johnson earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Ithaca College in 1978
