ConocoPhillips explores, produces, refines, and wholesales oil and natural gas. The company operates through six segments: Exploration and Production, Midstream, Refining and Marketing, LUKOIL Investment, Chemicals and Emerging Businesses. The Exploration and Production segment primarily explores for, produces, transports and markets crude oil, bitumen, natural gas, liquefied natural gas and natural gas liquids on a worldwide basis. The Midstream segment gathers, processes and markets natural gas produced by ConocoPhillips and others, and fractionates and markets natural gas liquids, predominantly in the United States and Trinidad. The Midstream segment primarily consists of its 50 percent equity investment in DCP Midstream, LLC. The Refining and Marketing segment purchases, refines, markets and transports crude oil and petroleum products, mainly in the United States, Europe and Asia. The LUKOIL Investment segment consists of its investment in the ordinary shares of OAO LUKOIL, an international, integrated oil and gas company headquartered in Russia. The Chemicals segment manufactures and markets petrochemicals and plastics on a worldwide basis. The Emerging Businesses segment represents its investment in new technologies or businesses outside the company's normal scope of operations. The company was founded on August 30, 2002 through the merger between Conoco, Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Co. and is headquartered in Houston, TX.

The ConocoPhillips Information Technology Team recently spent time working together to build bikes for local children. After each team successfully completed a series of challenges to earn the necessary tools and equipment they were tasked with working together to assemble a bike. It was then personalized and presented to an excited recipient from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Houston.

Ryan M. Lance, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Ryan M. Lance is chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips. A petroleum engineer, Lance has 28 years of oil and natural gas industry experience in senior management and technical positions with ConocoPhillips, predecessor Phillips Petroleum and various divisions of ARCO. Before assuming the role of chairman and CEO in May 2012, Lance had served as senior vice president, Exploration & Production – International, since May 2009. Before that, he was president, Exploration and Production – Asia, Africa, Middle East and Russia/Caspian. He was previously senior vice president of technology beginning in 2007, and of technology and major projects beginning in 2006. Prior assignments included appointments as president of downstream strategy, integration and specialty functions in 2005 and of Asia Pacific exploration and production in 2003; and as vice president of Lower 48 in 2002, upon the merger with Conoco. Lance had previously served as general manager of Lower 48 and Canadian operations for Phillips since 2001. Lance spent 17 years with ARCO, ultimately becoming vice president of Western North Slope operations in Alaska, which were acquired by Phillips in 2001. He joined ARCO in 1984 and held various management, engineering and operations positions in Alaska, the U.S. Lower 48, and internationally. Lance serves on the board of directors for Spindletop International as well as on the Montana Tech Foundation’s board and the University of Houston’s energy advisory board. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Lance earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from Montana Tech in Butte in 1984.
Matt Fox, Executive Vice President Exploration and Production
Matt Fox is executive vice president, Exploration and Production, for ConocoPhillips. A reservoir engineer, Fox has 28 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry.
Before accepting his current role at ConocoPhillips, Fox was executive vice president, international for Nexen, Inc. Previously, Fox was president of ConocoPhillips Canada. Fox’s prior assignments with ConocoPhillips included serving as senior vice president, Oil Sands in Canada and manager of North Slope Development in Alaska.
Fox started his career with Conoco U.K. in 1983 as a reservoir engineer working in London and Aberdeen. After serving in senior reservoir engineering roles in Dubai and Houston, he became chief reservoir engineer in the company’s reservoir technology organization in 1998. Fox has also worked in business development and staff roles at ConocoPhillips headquarters in Houston.
Matt graduated from City University in London with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1982. He attended Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, graduating with a master’s degree in petroleum engineering in 1983.
Jeff W. Sheets, Executive Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Jeff W. Sheets is executive vice president, Finance, and chief financial officer for ConocoPhillips. An engineer, Sheets has 32 years of technical, financial and leadership experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to his current role, Sheets had served as senior vice president, Planning and Strategy since 2008. He previously served seven years as vice president and treasurer, a role he assumed after working as assistant treasurer since 1998. Sheets also spent several years in Norway as commercial services manager and as staff finance director in Exploration and Production. Sheets began his career as a process engineer in the North America division of Exploration and Production for Phillips Petroleum in 1980. He held various engineering and marketing positions in that group until 1990 when he joined Treasury as staff finance director. Sheets is a member of the Academy of Chemical Engineers at the Missouri University of Science and Technology and a board member for Theatre Under the Stars in Houston. Sheets was born in Bossier City, La., in 1958. In 1980, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston in 1989.
